2022 AAUW Fund Honorees
The AAUW Honoree program is a wonderful way for our branch to recognize outstanding members. The criteria considered for our 2022 recipients were: promoting the mission of AAUW, length of time in the branch, serving as a board member, variety of the branch positions held, performing multiple jobs, behind-the-scenes worker, and community service that increases the visibility of AAUW.
Honorees: Elaine Reimer, Karen MacDonald, Margo Hinnenkamp, and Marian Sacco
Marian Sacco led the branch through two difficult pandemic years with all its challenges and problems. At the outset of her term, she took charge of our participation in the suffrage centennial celebration; she persevered and encouraged everyone to participate in Board and other meetings via Zoom; she remained calm no matter what challenges came her way and was consistently positive and cheerful. She filled in whenever and wherever needed, even sitting at the farmers market for several hours to distribute 40 th anniversary wine glasses to members.
The Hospitality Team – Margo Hinnenkamp, Karen MacDonald and Elaine Reimer – organized lunch and set-up for the Fall 2021 membership event ably arranging a catered lunch to circumvent the no-potluck Covid restrictions. Margo and Karen, with the help of Elaine, were responsible for the 40th anniversary holiday party and assembling branch history displays. AAUW members love a party and getting together with people they rarely see. The work involved in arranging a venue, food, drinks, and other details for these events is often taken for granted. Our Hospitality Team has done an outstanding job, and we hope we will sample more of their organizational skills at the next Branch event.
