2024 Wildflower Run Report
This Wildflower Run had 1202 registered participants, which reached the maximum number even before race day. Our thanks to all our wonderful volunteers who made the Run so successful.
The combined efforts of AAUW members and community volunteers totaled approximately 200 workers. AAUW’s Tech Trek campers and Young Women Leaders were spirited helpers. Also involved were Morgan Hill CERT, local officials, and students—AKA Muscle in the Morning—who brought the Finish Fest to life and made set-up and clean-up a breeze.
New this year was the popular 2K Fun Run for young and old, ranging in age from two to 93 years. The school competition continued for a second year, bringing in even more students and families than last year.
Getting the word out is so important, and Elizabeth Mandel and Suman Ganapathy promoted our Run via various media outlets and in-person activities. And the excitement continued along the course with entertainment provided by many local entertainers. The Roadshow, brought together by Liz Panetta Melone, received many accolades.

Improving course safety and parking were top concerns this year. For safety on the course, Susan Persing created designated lanes for runners with cones. Heather Poore and her team made some strategic modifications to parking and traffic flow which alleviated the bottlenecks on Main Street and made overall parking much smoother.
Local dignitaries, including Assemblymember Gail Pellerin, MHUSD Superintendent Carmen Garcia, and Mayor Mark Turner, were on hand to award the medals and prizes, which had been collected by the Sponsors in Kind committee.
The community and AAUW members alike have the satisfaction of knowing that all proceeds from the Run are used to fund local scholarships, community grants, and leadership programs for women and girls. (Final figures will be shared once the last bills are paid.)
Mark your calendar for our 42nd annual Wildflower Run on March 30, 2025!
