Ellen Freitas, AAUW member for more than 30 years, died March 19, 2024, at the age of 74. She had suffered a major stroke last year.

Ellen joined AAUW in 1990. She served as branch membership vp 1995-1996, treasurer 2007-2009, participated in the YES support group for many years, and was one of the first members of the Hole in the Heart widows group. (Her husband Rich died in 2016.) She always helped at the Wildflower Run and was in charge of the pink volunteer tee shirts when the Run workers still wore them.

Ellen also dealt with major health issues in the past; she had a kidney transplant in 2016 after being on dialysis for several years, but she continued to enjoy life.

She is survived by two daughters, Sara and Emily, a son-in-law, Charles, and a year-old grandson, Charlie, whom she adored.

She will be remembered for her smile, kindness, and thoughtfulness.
