Earth Day 2024

Our annual Earth Day Festival on April 20, co-sponsored by AAUW and the City of Morgan Hill, was a fantastic success! All attendees learned so much about the numerous ways that we can care for the earth.

The display of electric vehicles from the Ford Store Morgan Hill and Tesla of Gilroy stole the show with their shiny, climate-friendly new cars. MoGo joined the parade with their user friendly local ride service.

The children’s area was extremely popular with the young ones. There was face painting, flower pot decorating and flower planting for everyone to enjoy.

The vendors did it all: repaired bicycles, taught us about how to correctly recycle, informed us about the numerous opportunities to get involved in climate friendly activities and organizations. We learned how to use an induction cooktop and how to borrow one from the city, and about the variety of ways to keep our water supply clean and safe to use.

We learned about the importance of bees in our world and were able to see some in action. The local wildlife center shared how they care for injured animals.

Fleurs Garden Club was on hand to provide the community with vegetable plants needed for the summer season. They were eager to teach us how to have a successful garden.

The live music from the Foggy Memory Band and the Live Oak High School Band lent a festive air to the occasion and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.  Food trucks satisfied all appetites with tasty and affordable treats

Our intrepid door prize committee outdid itself with an abundance of awesome prizes. The membership committee was able to recruit five new members from among attendees and shared information about our branch with others.
