Meet Our New Members

Gayle Bowers is originally from Malaysia but now lives in Morgan Hill with her husband and golden retriever. She grew up speaking English and Malay, as well as some Penang Hokkien, and she is currently learning Spanish. She keeps very busy traveling, cooking, and volunteering for the Friends of the Library. Gayle is looking forward to getting to know AAUW members and seeing where she can best contribute.  

Judie Chandler has lived in Morgan Hill since 1977. She received the branch’s first re-entry scholarship in 1990. She went on to get a Master’s in Social Work from SJ State. Her five children graduated from Live Oak High School. Her hobbies include quilting, oil painting, and ballroom dancing.  She and her husband enjoy traveling to Utah, Florida, and New England to spend time with grandchildren.

Yvette Coronado is from San Jose and has lived in Morgan Hill since 2014. She and her husband have two adult children. Yvette works full time in San Jose at a counseling center; in her spare time she loves to read, hike and travel. She was introduced to AAUW by Sherrie Wren during one of our public programs at the library.

Sara Freitas is a second generation AAUW MH member, as her mother Ellen was a long-time part of the branch. She has good memories of helping with the Wildflower Run when she was a child. Sara loves to read, write, and do crafting projects; she is currently looking for a job. Peggy Martin encouraged her to join, and Sara is looking forward to getting more involved with AAUW and our community.

Lena Green is originally from Russia; she moved to San Martin from Oregon three years ago. She currently teaches biology remotely for a community college in Oregon. She enjoys an active lifestyle, including travel, nature, hiking, and gardening. Lena is looking forward to joining various branch activities, meeting like-minded women, and supporting women’s education.

Melissa Ingalls has lived in Morgan Hill since 2021 but has been in California for almost 50 years. She is an avid reader; she and her husband frequently travel in their RV to see their four children. Melissa heard about AAUW through Linda Tarvin and is looking forward to making new friends with similar interests.  

Jennifer McNarney is originally from Perth, Western Australia; she has lived in Morgan Hill since 2000 with her husband. They have a son and a daughter. Jennifer has recently retired from a career in physical therapy and joined AAUW to stay engaged and give back to our community. She plays violin with the South Valley Symphony and enjoys reading, gardening and hiking.  

Yana Sikorskaya is originally from Russia. She has lived in Morgan Hill since 2025 and says that she feels more at home here than anyplace else. She loves literature, creative writing, and travel; she even met the Dalai Lama on one of her trips to India. Yana is looking forward to working with AAUW and getting more involved with the community. Donna Dicker encouraged her to join our branch.

Teresa Stephenson has lived in Morgan Hill for more than 40 years. Since she retired from IBM, she has been a reading tutor, a wildlife rehabilitator for at least 20 years, and a member of the Friends of the Library for longer than that. The library is where she met Carol O’Hare, who encouraged her to join. She is looking forward to making new friends, as well as continuing to give back to the community.

Tricia Wolfe is a retired elementary school teacher. She first worked in several southern California schools and most recently at PA Walsh. She’s lived in Morgan Hill since 1985 with her husband, Dan; they have four children and two granddaughters. She joined at the urging of Karen MacDonald and is looking forward to making new friends, learning new things and supporting important causes.
