If you know someone who would like to join AAUW but does not have an associate or higher degree, they may now be eligible for membership according to the expanded definition of “degree equivalency” adopted by the national AAUW Board of Directors in 2025.

Eligibility criteria include:

• Certificates, licenses or professional certifications issued by an accredited education institution; or 
• The equivalent of two years of full-time education at an accredited institution.

 All prospective members should have a commitment to supporting equity and education for women and girls.

If you want to recommend someone for membership who may fit these criteria, contact membership@aauwmh.org for guidance on how to proceed. An applicant’s resume and/or other supporting information will be reviewed by the Membership Committee before being submitted to national for approval. We look forward to adding more members to the branch who support AAUW’s mission of education and equity for women and girls.
