This is my final President’s Message for the newsletter, as my term concludes on June 30 – on July 1, Harpreet Vittal will become the new President of the Morgan Hill branch of AAUW! It has been an incredible two years—truth be told, I had no idea what I was getting into—but I have truly cherished the opportunity to work with such an inspiring, creative, and intelligent group of women. I’m excited to see Harpreet step into this role, bringing her wonderful ideas and energy to the position.

These past two months have offered outstanding examples of the meaningful work we do, including the inspirational Leadership Conference hosted by our Young Women Leaders group, and of course, our incredible Wildflower Run. The weather cooperated in the end—not too much rain! And meeting our scholarship recipients and the 2026 Tech Trek campers is always a powerful reminder of why we do this work: to support education, create opportunities, and strengthen our community.

We may be living through challenging times in our country, but we are not stepping back—we are stepping up. To paraphrase Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., only light can drive out darkness, and only love can drive out hate. As we move forward with our new year of events and projects, let’s continue to shine that light with love.
