Honorees announced at Spring Lunch
The 2025 AAUW Honorees were announced at the May Spring Lunch. From among several excellent nominations, the committee selected Susan Rife and Monica McClintock.
Susan Rife, a branch member since 2016, is serving as Public Policy chair. Last fall she coordinated three candidate forums, involving multiple candidates. She also has organized the MH participation in AAUW California school board project, attending meetings of the MHUSD trustees. She participates in AAUW CA Lobby Days in Sacramento to talk to state representatives and staff about bills that are important to AAUW. With the reorganization of the board, she has even more responsibilities as Advocacy Coordinator. Most recently, she has taken on the additional job as newsletter copy editor.
Susan is also very involved with branch interest groups: taking a lead role in Ukuladies, starting the Wednesday Writers Workshop, and helping out Evening Books as needed.
Monica McClintock joined AAUW in 2013. She has been an active participant in the Leadership Development Team and Membership committee. For the Wildflower Run, she organizes the distribution of flyers around town and beyond. But she is best known for the many years that she has dedicated to composing and distributing the Sunday weekly emails. She even continued doing this long after she was ready to quit! She also devoted hours to training those who have taken over for her.
In addition to her AAUW duties, Monica is active in the community: managing the Reach Out food pantry at St Catherine’s, being part of the MH Peace project, and supporting a school project in Ghana.
Congratulations to these two valuable branch members, well deserving of being selected this year’s AAUW Honorees!
