Tech Trek 2024 Update
The inaugural session of Tech Trek Camp Rachel Carson was held at UC Santa Cruz this year from July 14–19. Branch member Carol Holzgrafe was instrumental in organizing the camp, and many other members helped, including:
Bobbie Erb, Dorm Monitor; Krisse Boursier, instructor of Math Core class; Margaret McCann, Margo Hinnenkamp, Marian Sacco, Stacy Forgy and Carol Ferri, presenters of the Climate Change workshop; Barbara Palmer, Heather Poore, and Susan Parodi, camper sign-in on Sunday; Karen Skahill, Joy Safakish, Karen George, Sheila Dunwoodie, and Joan Ensign, cupcake brigade; Susan Rife, cupcake delivery.
After interviewing over 20 girls nominated by their teachers, the Morgan Hill branch sent 10 girls from our six public middle schools in town. Our branch had the largest number of campers participating.
Everyone agreed that camp was a great success – the classes, workshops, and field trip to the Seymour Marine Discovery Center were all enthusiastically attended by the campers. The beauty of the campus with the redwoods and brilliant murals was an added benefit, even with all the stairs.
The girls will share their experiences with our branch members at the Showcase program in October.
