My Leadership Morgan Hill Experience
My name is JoAnne Markowska, Director of the AAUW MH Governance/Bylaws Committee.
Thanks to the support and scholarship provided by AAUW Morgan Hill, I had the privilege of joining the Leadership Morgan Hill Class of 2026. This program has given me incredible insight into local government and organizations that make our town so special. It has also been an honor to collaborate alongside such dedicated, inspiring, and supportive classmates. We worked closely with Morgan Hill Historical Society, and our partnership was key in creating a successful and informative class project. Thank you, Morgan Hill Historical Society!
Our class created the Morgan Hill Historical Trail Project under the theme “Many Stories, One Morgan Hill,” reflecting our shared heritage and vibrant community. This self-guided walking and driving tour celebrates the people, places, and events that shaped Morgan Hill—from its early agricultural days and railroad growth to modern civic life. Starting at the historic Votaw Building downtown, the trail features ten walking stops (1–10) and nine driving stops (11–19), complete with historic landmarks, notable architecture, and digital storytelling experiences. Visitors can explore the route at their own pace, discovering how past generations built our city. Select stops also highlight links to “Stories Beyond the Trail,” that offer deeper access to hidden gems and local history. We are deeply grateful to our generous community sponsors whose contributions made this educational resource possible.
