President's Message

March is here, and with it comes our only fundraiser of the year – the Wildflower Run! I love to share how our branch of more than 200 members comes together to make this iconic event happen. When I talk about AAUW to someone who doesn’t know us, I ask, “Do you know the Wildflower Run?” The answer is always, “Yes!” It fills me with pride to be part of this organization – not only do we pull off an incredible event, but all proceeds support scholarships and grants for women and girls. If you haven’t signed up yet to volunteer for the Wildflower Run, now’s the time. We need help before and during the event. And don’t forget to contribute to our Wildflower Fund – we count on our members’ donations as well.

Meanwhile, if the news today feels overwhelming, I challenge you to take one small action to make this a better world. Say something kind to a grocery store worker, reach out to someone who might be lonely, or volunteer for something new – you might even learn a new skill! We can’t solve all the world’s problems, but we can start a ripple at our own doorstep.

Looking ahead, consider joining Lobby Days in April (see Susan Rife’s article). It’s a fantastic opportunity to visit Sacramento, engage with our elected representatives, and make a difference. And don’t miss our many upcoming gatherings – details are in this newsletter and on our website.

And one last note – our branch is one of just 14 nationwide to receive AAUW’s Five-Star Recognition! A heartfelt thank you to our incredible members who made this happen – your dedication makes our branch thrive.
