Bylaws/Governance

Bylaws/Governance Committee 2024-2025 Year-End Report

The Bylaws/Governance Committee had another productive year. After the reorganization of the board structure in 2024, it was necessary to define responsibilities and create job descriptions for several new board positions: Advocacy Coordinator (Public Policy, DEI, CEAC), Programs/Community Events Chair (monthly programs, branch activities), and Communications/Marketing Coordinator (newsletter, weekly email, publicity, social media). Some formerly elected positions became appointed: Program, Membership, and AAUW Fund. Others were moved to advisory status: Scholarship Coordinator, Tech Trek, and Wildflower Run Sponsor.

We also updated Policies & Procedures  and developed a new policy for Dues Assistance.

Bylaws also had changes in its committee composition. We said good bye to Joan Ensign, who had served on the committee since it was formed in 2002. Suman also left us, but we added JoAnne Markowska. In May JoAnne gamely agreed to take over as chair from Carol O’Hare, another longtime member. Terry Rounds, a retired teacher, will also be joining the committee.

Since the work of the committee is never ending, we will continue to update and develop job descriptions as needed. The committee does much more than enjoy wine and popcorn!

Submitted by Carol O’Hare, outgoing chair, JoAnne Markowsaka, incoming chair; and committee members Elsa Walton, Sherrie Wren, Krisse Boursier, Harpreet Vittal, and Sheila Dunwoodie.
