My Leadership Morgan Hill Experience
Leadership MH 2024 is almost over with a final retreat on September 13. Graduation is Monday, September 16 at Guglielmo Winery.
Our class project was upgrading the picnic area at the splash pool at the CRC. We replaced the seating blocks surrounding the pool with four picnic tables and planted two large trees for extra shade. There is a large turtle sculpture for kids to climb on, so we chose the name, “Turtle Rock Family Splash Zone.” The ribbon cutting is 10:00am on September 7. Everyone is welcome.
In June we had Local History Day at the Morgan Hill House and heard from local historians about how our city was established. Be sure to visit the house and take a tour. It is fascinating!
We also learned a lot at our Health and Human Services Day about housing for low income and the unhoused and about the many housing developments happening in Morgan Hill. We toured the Loma Clara Senior Living facility and heard how Morgan Hill is becoming an age-friendly city with affordable housing and health care for all ages. Chuck Berghoff provided a moving presentation on the work of the Susan and Charles Berghoff Foundation related to Lewy body dementia. Our last educational meeting covered Public Safety (police, fire, etc) in Morgan Hill. This included a “ride along” with local police.
In addition to learning so much about our City and State, we have been exposed to many areas in which to we each might serve (which is really the goal of Leadership MH), and I’m excited to consider where I can best “plug in.”
I am so grateful for the privilege of being a part of this class (the Best Class Ever!) and for your support. I look forward to serving our City in a meaningful way. Thank you!
